Reflections 2014 - Metaphor
In a period where economic progress triumphs over social welfare, we are often too busy to see those amongst us who live without many essential things that we have taken for granted such as a roof over our heads, having a warm plate of food and having faith that everything will be all right. Metaphor is Operation Theatre’s attempt at finding a ray of light amongst the shadows.
This double bill of Haresh Sharma’s Ah Boy and the Beanstalk and Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses explores widely on the social issues we see of the past worlds and the present. It portrays the harsh truths of our society in the most unexpected way. Both plays in Metaphor touch on the subject of famine, of poverty, of cruelty and of sound judgment; all of which reflected greatly of our current society. The entire piece is beyond a metaphor that represents and symbolizes of something of the current world.
